This is an extremely scarce early second month’s production (December,1942) Remington Rand Model 1911A1 Pistol. The serial number places this as the 1509th regular production pistol, so it is one of the earliest known examples to have survived. It is 100% factory original and correct. The pistol is in 94% condition. According to research, most pistols in this early range ended up with the Navy and USMC and this pistol shows the typical signs of exposure to a marine environment. Also present are typical anomalies found on these early production guns such as the upside down Ordnance wheel stamp and the FJA acceptance stamp being located a tad higher than the correct location. The early Du-lite finish still shows a nice blue tinge. Only a small handful of Remington Rand pistols were produced in 1942, and they were the only 1911’s made besides those at Colt. This is a very tough pistol to locate for any serious collector and it is a real find.
