In like new in box condition, we have an extremely rare early 1950’s production FN made Browning High Power Pistol. This is a British Government Purchased Pistol and Bears 1963 dated British Arsenal Inspection tags. It was sold as surplus soon after and sold commercially in Europe as it is stamped with the 1960’s era “Silesia” export stamp. The pistol is all matching and in mint new condition.
There has long been speculation of the Origin of these pistols that bear the E prefix serial number with many sources indicating that they were of British Military or British Intelligence Service (MI5 or MI6) origin. I think it may well be for Clandestine use as there is no lanyard loop ring on the pistol. There was little back up information to these claims until now with this pistol as it clearly has very identifiable British Government Arsenal origins as we can tell from the inventory tags. This pistol with be an absolute must have item of great significance to the High Power or British Military collector and I would not expect it to hang around for long.
