Description

In 96% sharp condition, we have a scarce and very rarely seen very early (inside the first 3,000)  1929 Production 1st Variation Walther PP Pistol.  This pistol has very early features that were only found on the first few thousand of these pistols manufactured  and they rarely turn up in any decent condition.  Please observe the extra “Crown/N” proof on the frame, and the one located at the end of the barrel instead of inside the ejection port.  You will notice the large well to house the 90 degree safety leaver, the early fat type of safety leaver and the early style thick ring hammer.  This has the 2 piece firing pin and the early X reinforced grips.  This pistol also does have the signal pin which is not found on many of these early pistols.  These very early examples are very distinguishable from the later variants.  If you collect Walther pistols this is one that you certainly will want to have in your collection as it is very distinctively different from later production examples .

When the Walther PP first appeared on the market in 1929 it was an immediate success.  Even at the onset of the Great Depression sales did not waiver as it was such an innovation over any pocket pistols that were in service at the time with its double action feature that allowed it to be safely carried with a loaded chamber.
