Description

In 95% very bright all matching condition, we have a gem of the roaring 20’s, a Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammer Pistol in .38 automatic Colt Pistol caliber.  The bore is mint and the gun is in nice condition for it’s age and the fact that it has spent most of its life in the very deep south of Mississippi.  Everything on this pistol is completely correct and factory original including the magazine.

We rarely take on these pistols for two reasons, firstly they were not widely used in either World War and more importantly they are very difficult to locate in attractive and original condition.  Both the finish and the grips are fragile and they are hard to locate with a good look to them.  We have found a nice example here.  The 1903 Colt pocket hammer was in power on par with the 9mm Luger of the time.  It gave you power in approximation to a .38 long colt in a semi auto handgun.  It was popular for a time prior to WWI and immediately after but it’s days were numbered by two guns that did the job better; the 1908 Colt Pocket hammerless in .380 which was more concealable and in 1929 by the Colt .38 Super Pistol which was much more powerful.  Still this is a good sound pistol that was widely carried in the Pre WWI era Right through the roaring 20’s and into the gangster/depression era.
