In uncleaned combat salty War Trophy condition, we have an extremely important and completely documented 1971 Vietnam War Trophy Soviet M91/30 Sniper Rifle. We have pictured redacted copies of the information that obscured the vet’s name but the full original complete documentation will convey with the rifle along with the recently passed veterans service information. This is made more important because it is from probably the most famous unit of the war the 7th Cavlary of the 1st Air Assault Cavalry division. Who hasn’t seen the helicopter attack in the Movie Apocalypse Now??? This was brought back by a staff sgt in the HQ company of the 5th Battalion.  Sadly he passed only recently due to effects of Agent Orange, which we know many of our clients suffer the effects of. This rifle was just obtained from the family. Â
The rifle itself is a non re-worked WWII Soviet Red Army Izveshk Arsenal 1943 dated sniper rifle. It is all matching with the exception of the floorplate and the scope which is pretty close. It was in service during WWII and was sent to arm the North Vietnamese either the NVA or the Vietcong and was captured in a weapons cache after a successful operation.  Completely documented sniper rifles from this war are impossible to locate; if you found one very likely it would not still be with the papers. This is the genuine bonifide item, no speculation and no doubt. Probably the most significant war trophy we have handled from this war and we can think of about 20 of our clients who will have to have it. It is a memorial artifact to the men who served in Vietnam such as Brett’s Dad and this rifle deserves the utmost respect and care. Â
