WED SEPT 9, WWI GERMAN ARMY ISSUE MAUSER 1896/12 “BROOMHANDLE” PISTOL, 7.63 m/m, VERY DECENT!

In 90%, very used condition we have an extremely interesting Mauser 1916 production 1896/12 Military Issued and proofed “Broomhandle Pistol“ in 7.63mm caliber.  This is a semi-strange pistol, it is import marked to R guns, and probably came out of Eastern Europe/ Russia.  The rear sight has been expertly modified to a peep sight and this a massive improvement over the original configuration.  The bore is quite decent as well.  We normally do not deal in such strangeness but it was part of a large collection that we picked up and its certainly no Chinese imported piece of junk.   

The Broomhandle Mauser with its stock was used in lieu of a carbine and played a role similar to the sub machinegun of WWII.  They were used by machine gun troops and artilleryman to protect their guns from sudden attack.  In the late stages of the war, they were widely employed by the Stormtrooper assault troops.  Certainly one of if the most iconic pistol used by the Germans in WWI it is a must have for any WWI collection.
