Description

In 96% very sharp condition, we have a fine example of a SCARCE US Navy issued Colt Woodsman Match Target .22lr Pistol. This comes with a very interesting  Colt Letter than informs us that it was shipped on August 16, 1943 to the Army Navy Consolidating Station in New York for shipment to the Naval Supply Depot in Oakland California for use in the Pacific Theater of Operations.  The grips are not chipped and the pistol is matching and the bore is mint as well.  Very decent documented example of a scarce Colt .22lr Martial Pistol.

During the war these pistols played an important role in training officers and air crew in the use of a handgun.  They were also used for recreational shooting and there is a Photo of Admiral Nimitz using one in Hawaii.  This is certainly one of the harder to find Service used .22 pistols and the letter really adds to this example.
