Description

In excellent condition we have an unwieldy and totally awesome looking Dutch M1871/88 Beaumont Vitali Service rifle.  This is an 1871 Beaumont single shot rifle upgraded with the Vitali designed 4 shot magazine.  This is typical of the large bore black powder repeating rifles in service in Europe in the last quarter of the 1800’s.  The bore is mint and the rifle comes with an impossible to find bayonet.  The stock is exceptional and the cartouches are the best part of this rifle.  This is an exceptional example of a Dutch military rifle that never was used in a war, although we did locate an obscure reference to it being deployed against rioting milkmaids during the Gouda Rebellion of 1883.
