In 95% very sharp condition, we have a rare and seldom seen Belgium Army Issued FN Model 1910 Pistol. These pistols were issued to Belgian Army Officers. This pistol is all matching with an excellent bore. It bears the early 1919 Belgium army AA and circle A acceptance markings.
At the close of WWI the Belgian Army was in a shambles and much equipment was needed to re-arm and rebuild. During that war the Army used FN 1900 Pistols and 1903 Colts. After the war FN decided not to continue production of the Model 1900 and because of this the Belgian Army instead chose the Model 1910 as the new pistol for Officers & NCO’s. Beginning in 1919 and continuing into the early 1930’s they placed several orders for these pistols. Our example is one the the very first guns procured in 1919. In 1936 the Army began purchasing the new FN High Power as a replacement for the Model 1910 however these pistols still remained in service at the outbreak of War in 1939 and most officers still carried them as side arms when Belgium was invaded in 1940. Almost certainly this pistol was surrendered to the Germans who re-issued it to their forces and was captured and brought back by a US G.I.
If you collect FN or WWII pistols this is certainly one that you will want to add to your collection as it played a significant role during the war.
