In new in the matching box condition, we have an outstanding example of a 1937 Production Astra Modelo 400 Pistol with all the giblets still in the box. This pistols was built in 1937 for the Spanish Army and was probably surplussed out and sold in the late 1950’s or early 1960’s and sold by Interarms. Apparently it was never issued but just sat undisturbed in a Spanish Arsenal.
This is the famous pistol of the Spanish Civil War and it also saw some service in WW2 as well on the Axis side with the Spanish Blue Legion and also the German Army. These pistols are extremely well made, the equal of anything the Germans ever made and the reputation that they enjoy is peerless. Although chambered for the 9mm long or Bayard round, they will function with almost any other 9mm automatic cartridge to include 38 super, 38 acp, 9mm Browning Long, 9mm Luger and there are others as well. Certainly one of the most distinctive and ruggedly made pistols of the past century and in the best possible condition one could ever find one in.
