In excellent condition, like you rarely find these swords, we have a top example of a US Civil War, Union Army Officer’s Model 1850 Foot officer’s sword. This is a high quality example That was made by the famous WH Horstmann firm of Philadelphia. Like all high grade Horstmann swords, the blade was made in Soligen German by the Weyersburg Bros. The engraved 31 inch blade is in absolute top condition, and that is just rarely seen, This is a textbook example of the union officers sword that was carried into battle.
It is extremely uncommon to see such an intact artifact; after 175 years of storage and kids playing soldier most of these swords that have survived are just beat to hell. This is a local find that just came out of the woodwork.
