In 95+% original matching condition, we have a 7.63m/m Mauser C96 “Broomhandle” Pistol. This is a 1914 production pistol that was a German officer private purchase and it actually engraved with the officers name and unit, “Ed. Francke L.F.A.R.9” this indicates that he was attached to the light field artillery regiment 9. Private purchase German Officer Pistols that can be attributed to the actual officer and unit are an extreme rarity and highly sought after. The stock is made of a very attractive piece of walnut and the 1916 dated harness is still with the rig. The bore is in excellent condition and the pistol is completely factory original and matching. This pistol features the earlier safety features and was manufactured before the NS new safety markings. This is a great example of a Pre-WW1 Commercial Broomhandle that was German Officer issued and carried in the Great War. That you know who carried it and what unit that he was in is a hugely significant plus for this artifact of WW1.
