In 99% mint crisp like new condition, we have an eye popping example of a 1942 Mauser Banner Nazi Police Eagle/L marked P.08 Luger Pistol. This is all matching including the magazine and the bore is mint. Police Banner Lugers are scarce there were only 4,700 of this variant made and you just will not find one in this barely used condition.
During the Early stages of the War in Europe the Nazi Police apparatus was rapidly expanded to control the population of the occupied countries and to combat sabotage and resistance. The years 1940-42 saw a rapid buildup of Police Cadres and weapons to arm them. While the vast majority of pistols issued were 7.65 pocket pistols, large caliber 9mm handguns were needed for anti-partisan operations. This Luger is a wonderful piece of history from this turbulent period.
